Blanc Manioc & Furie

Shock! MC Waraba can't join us, but the Blanc Manioc label is coming to the rescue on April 5 in La Clusaz!

This is music that doesn't ask for permission. It bursts in, it overflows, it shakes things up. It comes from Bamako, passes through Abidjan and Lyon, and flows through bodies like a warm, free wave. Blanc Manioc and Furie is an encounter between the electro scene and the raw energy of maquis music. An uninhibited, intense, joyfully chaotic alliance. This Sunday at La Grenette, they'll be shaking the ground with their sounds, making the walls vibrate as they shake up the structures, and reigniting the party with a sincerity as disarming as it is unstoppable.

PROG IS SOMETIMES JUST A PHIL...

Where and when did you first hear this sound?
It was while listening to a remix of Djoro by Sheitan and Pedro. It was a revelation. It had the energy of a warrior, something we never really let go of. Then we followed Furie their madness in Abidjan, with MC Waraba, Maquis Electroniq, etc. And when they finalized their live show at Nuits Sonores last year, it was clear that we had to follow them... or even book them. So this time it will be without MC Waraba, but with all the energy of the Furie sound system Furie

If it were the soundtrack to a waking dream, what would it sound like?
We'd be in a studio near Abidjan or even Bagadadji, sweaty and vibrant, surrounded by a clique of sound creators and connections. Furie crew, the local guys, Patxi in a corner finishing off a spicy chicken dish, Pedro laughing with Dom as he slips them mixing tips in a hybrid language that everyone understands. Everyone is there, focused and relaxed, in an uninhibited, determined, joyful atmosphere. There are so many colors that only one remains: the color of sound.

An anecdote about Line-up journey Line-up
It all started with Dom Peter and his label Blanc Manioc, then Furie check out the local scene in Abidjan... We were so keen to book them, regardless of the format, that we gave them complete freedom in case other dates came up... Unfortunately, things took a completely different turn, as MC Waraba can't be there and will therefore leave the stage to Dom, Patxi, and Pedro. It wasn't necessarily planned that way, but frankly, Sunday's Grenette suits them perfectly... and we might be in for a surprise at the mic!
