Marina P & The Radiators

"It's part of a family history that the festival cherishes."

A clear voice that glides over the roots of reggae like a caress of light. Elegant rocksteady, closer to soul and ska than to rough dub, a vibe that breathes history and tradition without ever getting bogged down in them. A recent discovery, almost by chance, but an obvious one: an artist who is part of a musical family, a constellation of friendships and collaborations that make the heart of the festival beat faster. MARINA P & THE RADIATORS is the sweetness of a heritage and the strength of a presence, a warmth that brings people together.

PROG IS SOMETIMES JUST A PHIL...

Where and when did you first hear them?
Just three weeks ago, a suggestion from a bookeur, a random detour. We were supposed to program Stand High Patrol, but it didn't happen... and then the name Marina P came up. It was an unexpected discovery, and a late one at that... crystal-clear reggae, leaning towards rocksteady, far from ragga dub, closer to the melodic spirit of Circus. Like Joe Yorke, with whom she has collaborated, she is part of the family history that the festival nurtures and cherishes.

Their music in 3 words, or more...?
Soul. Riddim. Rocksteady. Soul, because his voice is a human warmth, a sincerity that touches directly. Riddim, because the pulse is regular, deep-rooted, the backbone of celebration and memory. Rocksteady, finally, for that Jamaican elegance, that timeless sway that links roots and present. Music that's clear, inherited and alive.

If this were the soundtrack to a daydream, what would it sound like?
A ball in Jamaica, under a palm grove, the night opening with a celebration. The end of an old regime swept away by rhythms, the joy of a dancing village. Voices rise, bodies sway, and in the air floats the benevolent shadow of Bob Marley. Because he was the opening act that day!

Any anecdotes about Line-up 's career?
The man who works with her also looks after Joe Yorke, who left a strong impression when he came to the festival. Enthused by the response, he returned this year, and Marina P accompanied him for his first Circus. A natural continuity, a family energy that circulates and promises to set the stage ablaze!
